Kurdish Cleric Arrested by Iranian Security Forces

Hamed Abbasi, a religious activist and cleric residing in Sanandaj, was arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran last week. His current whereabouts remain unknown.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on June 22, 2024, Mamoosta Hamed Abbasi, the Mamosta of Sheikh Rash Mosque in the Naisar neighborhood of Sanandaj, was arrested by forces of Intelligence Department and transferred to an undisclosed location.
A trusted source indicated that Abbasi's family has made unsuccessful efforts to determine his status.
As of the release of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for Abbasi's arrest, the charges against him, or his current condition.
