Kurdish Kolbar Arrested, Tortured, and Shot by Iranian Armed Forces

Shirzad Chawshini, a Kolbar from Baneh, Kurdistan province (Sanandaj), has been arrested, tortured, and shot by Iranian border regiment forces. 

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on June 29, 2024, border regiment forces stationed at the Hangazhal border of Baneh arrested 34-year-old Shirzad Chawshini. Chawshini was subjected to severe torture and beatings; his mobile phone and $1,230 were confiscated.

A trusted source stated that after torturing and beating Chawshini, the border regiment forces released him and shot him from behind with a shotgun. As a result of this shooting, he sustained severe injuries to his back, thighs, legs, and buttocks.

Chawshini is currently receiving medical care at a healthcare facility in Baneh.
