Baneh: One Kurdish Kolbar killed, another injured by direct fire from Iranian border forces

Sivan Abdollahzadeh, a young Kurdish Kolbar from Baneh, was shot and killed by direct fire from Iranian border forces near the region’s frontier. Another Kolbar, identified only as Hossein (last name unknown), a resident of Saqqez, was wounded in the same incident.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025, 20-year-old Abdollahzadeh, from the village of Hawtash in Baneh, was fatally shot by border forces. Hossein, a Kolbar from the village of Kileshin in Saqqez, sustained injuries in the same attack.

The two men were targeted without prior warning in the Awpar highlands near the Hawtash border area of Baneh.

Simultaneously, ten of the Kolbars’ pack horses were also killed by gunfire from the same forces.
