Baneh border: Kurdish Kolbar seriously injured by direct fire from Iranian border guards

A kolbar from the city of Baneh, identified as 27-year-old Mehran Fattahi, sustained serious injuries after being shot by Islamic Republic of Iran border forces along the Hengezhal border region.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, when border forces opened direct fire on Fattahi at close range while he was working near the Hengezhal border crossing in Baneh.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of violence against kolbars (cross-border goods carriers) in the region. In recent years, Iranian border forces stationed in Hengezhal have fatally shot dozens of kolbars, often at close range and without warning.
