Mohammad Reza Qeytarani, Arrested During the Women, Life, Freedom Movement, Re-Arrested by Iranian Authorities

Mohammad Reza Qeytarani, a young man from Mahabad who had previously been arrested for several months during the Women, Life, Freedom movement, has been re-arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the human rights organization Hengaw, at 4:00 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2024, intelligence forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran raided the family home of Mohammad Reza Qeytarani, a 22-year-old resident of Mahabad. They arrested him using violence and transferred him to an unknown location.

As of the time this news was compiled, no specific information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his current whereabouts. Efforts by his family to follow up on his situation have been unsuccessful.

It is noteworthy that Mohammad Reza Qeytarani was previously arrested on Friday, September 23, 2022, during the Women, Life, Freedom movement in Esteqlāl (Independence) Square, Mahabad, by Iranian security forces. He was released on bail after three months.
