Former Kurdish detainee of “Women, Life, Freedom” movement, Amirali Zakeri, arrested again in Ilam

Hengaw – Tuesday, July 22, 2025
Amirali Zakeri, a 44-year-old Kurdish man from Ilam and former detainee of the “Women, Life, Freedom” (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement, has been arrested again—this time by agents of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence—and taken to an undisclosed location.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Zakeri was arrested on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at his workplace on Payam Street in Ilam. The arrest was carried out without a warrant.
Sources close to the family report that Zakeri has been accused of “espionage for Israel.” Three days after his arrest, his family remains without any information about his condition or whereabouts, despite repeated inquiries.
Zakeri was previously arrested alongside his brother, Emad Zakeri, during the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising on November 2, 2022, by Iranian security forces.
