A Report on the Latest Situation of Sasan Khanzadeh in Lakan Prison, Rasht

Sasan Khanzadeh, a Gilak individual from the city of Rasht, the capital of Gilan province, has served one month and 21 days of his prison sentence at the Lakan facility in this city. Previously, he had been sentenced to three years of imprisonment.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, 32-year-old Sasan Khanzadeh was arrested and transferred to Lakan Prison after being summoned to the fifth branch of the Enforcement of Sentences of the Rasht Public Prosecutor's Office.

Based on a document received by Hengaw, Sasan Khanzadeh had previously been sentenced by the third branch of the Rasht Islamic Revolutionary Court, presided over by Mehdi Rasekhi, to three years of imprisonment for the charge of "inciting and seducing people to war and killing" and to seven months and 16 days of imprisonment for the charge of "propaganda activities against the regime in favor of groups opposing the regime."

By applying the law of aggregation of sentences, the most severe punishment, which is three years of imprisonment, will be enforceable for this citizen.

In 2022, this citizen was arrested by Iranian security forces in Rasht and was temporarily released from Lakan Prison after a period of detention by posting bail until the end of the judicial proceedings.
