Four Prisoners Executed in Tabriz Prison, Including Three Afghan and Iraqi Citizens

The death sentences of at least four prisoners, including two Afghan nationals and a Kurdish man from Kirkuk, Iraq, were carried out in Tabriz Central Prison. These individuals had been previously sentenced to death for drug-related crimes and premeditated murder.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions took place at dawn on Monday, August 26, 2024. The prisoners were identified as Shapour Hosseini from Tabriz, Irfan Abdulazizi, a Kurdish man from Kirkuk, and two Afghan citizens, 32-year-old Mohibollah and 27-year-old Musharraf.
These four prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement in Tabriz Central Prison on Saturday, September 3, in preparation for the execution of their death sentences.
According to Hengaw sources, Irfan Abdulazizi was arrested and sentenced to death three years ago for the murder of a guard at a cement factory. Shapour Hosseini was arrested two years ago on drug-related charges, while Mohibollah and Musharraf were arrested in a joint case two years ago for the armed transportation of drugs. All were sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As of the time of writing, the executions of these four prisoners have not been reported in government media, particularly those outlets closely associated with the judiciary.
