Report of a Woman Set on Fire by Her Husband in Shiraz

A woman was set on fire by her husband in Shiraz, with the incident being reported by government media as a result of so-called "family disputes," a label commonly used in cases of femicide.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, August 12, 2024, a 48-year-old man set fire to his wife and her father in a neighborhood in Shiraz. In this tragic incident, his wife and two of her sisters lost their lives, while her father was also injured.

The official site of the Young Journalists Club reported that the killer, who was arrested shortly after the incident, went to his wife's family home on the day of the attack and set them on fire by pouring gasoline. The motive for this heinous crime is being attributed to "family disputes."
