Flogging sentence of political prisoner, Mohammad Abolhasani, carried out in Qazvin Prison

The inhumane flogging sentence of Mohammad Abolhasani, a political prisoner held in Chubin Dar Prison in Qazvin, has been carried out. He is currently serving the third year of his prison sentence.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mohammad Abolhasani, a civil rights activist from Qazvin, received the inhumane punishment of 12 lashes on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Chubin Dar Prison.

In mid-December 2023, Mohammad Abolhasani was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Qazvin to three months in prison and 12 lashes, though his prison sentence was later commuted to a fine.

In October 2022, a subsequent case against Mohammad Abolhasani led to an additional four-year prison sentence as he was already serving his previous sentence.

In February 2021, while Mohammad Abolhasani was serving a prior prison sentence, he received an additional sentence of 15 months of imprisonment and four months of forced labor on charges of “propaganda against the state.” This sentence was issued by Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari.

On January 1, 2022, Mohammad Abolhasani was transferred to Evin Prison to serve his sentence. On February 6, 2023, he was transferred by violence to Chubin Dar Prison in Qazvin.
