Public execution of a prisoner in Hamedan

A prisoner named Mohammad Ali Salamat was publicly executed in Hamedan, Iran. He had been sentenced to death on charge of "rape" by the judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution took place at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in the Baghe Behesht area of Hamedan. Mohammad Ali Salamat, a 43-year-old resident of Hamedan, was executed in front of the public.
Salamat, also known as Ali Salamat, was arrested approximately 18 months ago. Since then, nearly 200 cases of sexual assault were reportedly filed against him, leading to his conviction and death sentence by the judiciary for "rape."
Based on data registered at Hengaw's Center for Statistics and Documentation, this is the fourth public execution in Iran since the beginning of this year. Previously, two prisoners in Khomein and one in Shahrud were also executed publicly.
