Iran conducts second public execution in Semnan Province within a week

Iranian authorities carried out the public execution of another prisoner in the city of Semnan. The individual had earlier been sentenced to death on the charge of “premeditated murder” for killing their spouse. This marks the second public execution carried out in Semnan Province within the past week.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution was carried out in public in Semnan on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

The Mizan News Agency, affiliated with the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, withheld the identity of the prisoner but stated that the individual had been arrested five years ago on the charge of killing their spouse and subsequently sentenced to death.

This execution follows the public hanging of another prisoner, identified as Mostafa, 27, which took place on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in the city of Bastam in Semnan Province.
