Iran carries out public execution in Bastam

A man was executed in public in the city of Bastam in Semnan province after being sentenced to death on charges of “rape.”

Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution took place on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Hengaw has identified the individual as Mustafa, 27.

Mizan, a media outlet affiliated with Iran’s judiciary, reported the case without naming the prisoner and stated that he had been arrested in 2022 on charges of “rape” and later sentenced to death.

The Iranian authorities continue to use public executions as a tool of intimidation and social control.
