The death sentences of at least seven prisoners, including one woman, three Kurdish prisoners, and an Afghan national, previously sentenced to death on charges of "premeditated murder" and drug-related charges, were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. These prisoners have been identified as Khaled Tajik, Ahmad Alizadeh, Saman Bozorgi, Hamzeh Tarkashvand, Jafar Rastgar, and Mohsen Moradi. The identity of the woman remains under investigation.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Wednesday, November 13, 2024, three prisoners—Mohsen Moradi (also known as Rastgoozadeh) from Nurabad, Hamzeh Tarkashvand from Kangavar, and Jafar Rastgar from Harsin—who had previously been convicted on drug-related charges were hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.
At the same time, three men named Ahmad Alizadeh, age 26, Khaled Tajik (an Afghan national), Saman Bozorgi, and an unidentified woman, all of whom had previously been sentenced to death for premeditated murder, were executed in this prison.
Notably, Ahmad Alizadeh was arrested six years ago at the age of 20, while he was a student, on a charge of "premeditated murder" and was sentenced to death.
His execution was previously carried out on April 27, 2024, in Ghezel Hesar Prison, and while he was hanging from the noose for 28 seconds, he was taken down at the request of the victim's family and was eventually revived and returned to his prison cell.
To date, the news of the execution of these prisoners has not been announced by state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
