Mine explosion in Sumar injures two Kurds

A landmine, a remnant of the Iran-Iraq war, detonated in the “Ban Mil” pastures of the Sumar border region in Gilan-e Gharb County, Kermanshah Province, leaving two members of the local nomadic population severely injured.
According to reports obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the explosion occurred on Thursday, January 16, 2025. The victims, a 65-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, sustained critical injuries.
Both individuals were airlifted to Khomeini Hospital in Ilam for emergency medical treatment. The man suffered an amputation of his left leg, while the woman sustained severe injuries to her abdomen and eye.
