A 13-year-old Kurdish child was killed after a landmine left over from the Iran–Iraq war exploded in the Cham-Hendi area of Dehloran County in Ilam Province. The identity of the child has not yet been confirmed.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, when the child, a resident of Dehloran, was fatally wounded by a landmine blast.
Informed sources reported that the explosion took place in the afternoon, and due to the severity of the injuries, the child died at the scene.
Border areas of Ilam Province — particularly Dehloran County — remain heavily contaminated with unexploded landmines left from the Iran–Iraq war. Each year, multiple civilians are killed or injured as a result of these explosions.
