Tareq Kaabi, an Arab man from Shush, Khuzestan province, and a worker at the Haft-Tappeh Sugarcane Company, was arrested three weeks ago by security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to reports received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, despite 21 days passing since his arrest, no information has been made available regarding his condition or whereabouts. His family’s repeated efforts to obtain any updates on his situation have been unsuccessful.
On the morning of January 8, 2025, while on his way to work at Haft-Tappeh, Tareq Kaabi, 29, was forcibly removed from the company’s transport vehicle by agents of the Intelligence Department. Witnesses reported that he was violently arrested by several unmarked vehicles, and his arrest was carried out without the presentation of an arrest warrant.
Notably, Tareq Kaabi is the brother of Maher Kaabi, a former political prisoner, and Ahmad Kaabi, who is currently incarcerated in Kerman Central Prison. Maher Kaabi was previously released from Ardabil Prison after serving his full 10-year sentence without being granted furlough.
As of the time of this report, no official information has been provided regarding the reasons for Tareq Kaabi’s arrest, the charges against him, or his current whereabouts.
