Kurdish man arrested by security forces in Sanandaj

Mahialdin Khaldian, a Kurdish man from Sanandaj (Sine), was arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Khaldian was arrested at his workplace in Sanandaj without the presentation of an arrest warrant.
Sources state that security forces also raided his home, conducted a thorough search, and confiscated several books along with a photograph of his daughter, Niloufar Khaldian, also known as Beritan Sine. Niloufar, a guerrilla fighter of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), was killed in May 2022 in an airstrike carried out by the Turkish military.
The family’s repeated attempts to obtain information about Khaldian’s condition and location have so far been unsuccessful.
As of the time of this report, no information has been made available regarding the reasons for his arrest, or the charges against him.
