Kurdish man Mohammad Aminifar arrested to begin prison sentence in Naqadeh

Mohammad Aminifar (Jokhur), a Kurdish man from Naqadeh, was transferred to the city’s central prison to serve his 29-month prison sentence after being summoned to the Criminal Sentences Enforcement Branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Naqadeh.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Mohammad Aminifar, 40, from the village of Aliabad, a district of Naqadeh, was transferred to the city's central prison to begin serving his 29-month sentence.

He had previously been sentenced to a total of 29 months in prison by Branch 1 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Sajad Dousti, on charges of “membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan” and “propaganda against the regime.”

Mohammad Aminifar was forcibly arrested at his home in Aliabad on Monday, January 1, 2023, by intelligence forces and transferred to a security detention facility of the Intelligence Ministry in Urmia. He was later temporarily released from Naqadeh Prison on bail of 2 billion tomans until the conclusion of his trial proceedings.

It is worth noting that during his detention, Mohammad Aminifar was denied access to a lawyer and visitation with his family.
