Political prisoner Arghavan Fallahi held in uncertainty at Evin Prison

Arghavan Fallahi, a former political prisoner who was released from Evin Prison last fall after serving a two-year sentence, remains in indefinite detention at  the Intelligence Department’s detention facility in Evin Prison knows as ward 209, nine days after her arrest.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 23-year-old Arghavan Fallahi, a former political prisoner from Isfahan, has been held in Ward 209 of Evin Prison for nine days without any formal charges or legal proceedings.

Sources confirm that Fallahi was arrested on January 25, 2025, by security forces in Parand Township, Tehran.

Arghavan Fallahi was previously arrested in November 2022 alongside her father, Nasrollah Fallahi, and her brother, Ardavan Fallahi. She was later sentenced to two years in prison by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, on charges of “assembly and collusion” and “propaganda against the regime.” After serving her full sentence, she was released from Evin Prison.

As of the time of this report, no information has been made available regarding the reasons for her recent arrest, the charges against her, or her current condition.
