Kurdish man in Sanandaj arrested to serve prison sentence

Goran Khodamoradi, a Kurdish man from Sanandaj, was arrested and transferred to the city’s central prison to serve a six-month sentence.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Sunday, February 2, 2025, 40-year-old Goran Khodamoradi, a resident of Shyan village in the Sanandaj district, was arrested after appearing at the Fourth Branch of the Sanandaj Criminal Enforcement Office in response to a summons.

Recently, Goran Khodamoradi was sentenced by the First Branch of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court to four years of suspended imprisonment and six months of discretionary imprisonment on charges of "collaboration with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan" and "propaganda against the regime."

On Monday, October 7, 2024, he was arrested during a raid by security forces at his family home without the presentation of an arrest warrant. He was temporarily released on November 16, 2024, after posting a bail of 500 million tomans.

It is noteworthy that during the arrest, security forces searched the residence and confiscated personal belongings, including his mobile phone and books.
