Baloch cleric arrested by Security Forces in Sarbaz

A Sunni Baloch cleric named Molavi Emran Salami, a resident of Sarbaz in Sistan-Baluchestan province, was arrested six days ago by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the Sarbaz-Iranshahr road. There has been no information about his fate since his arrest.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, six days after the arrest of Emran Salami, a 26-year-old Sunni Baloch cleric and graduate of the Manba-ul-Uloom religious school in Kohan, he remains in an uncertain situation. Salami, who is from the village of Kambigdep in the Kishkor region of Sarbaz, was detained by Intelligence Department forces while traveling on the Sarbaz-Iranshahr route.

Emran Salami was arrested on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, by plainclothes intelligence agents without an arrest warrant. He was on his way to Zahedan to attend the Makki Mosque conference.

According to Haalvsh news agency, after inquiries by his family and relatives at the Intelligence Department in Rask, officials stated that Molavi Emran Salami had been transferred to the department’s detention center in Zahedan, where he is being held.

As of the time of this report, no precise information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest, or the charges against him.
