Nahavand: Fereshteh Souri and Ali Jahanian sentenced to imprisonment

Fereshteh Souri and Ali Jahanian, two residents of Nahavand, have each been sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment by the judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, March 10, 2025, Fereshteh Souri and Ali Jahanian, poets residing in Nahavand, were sentenced by Branch 1 of the Nahavand Revolutionary Court to one year of discretionary imprisonment on charges of "propaganda against the state." They were acquitted of the charge of "forming a group to disrupt national security."

The court hearing for these two Lors was held in late January 2025.

The couple was arrested on September 9, 2024, during a raid by Intelligence Ministry forces on their home in Nahavand. Fereshteh Souri was released on bail after a few hours of interrogation but was re-arrested on September 11 by Nahavand’s Intelligence Ministry agents and later transferred to Malayer Prison. Both were ultimately released on bail on November 11, 2024.

It is worth noting that during her interrogation at the Intelligence Ministry, Fereshteh Souri was subjected to verbal and physical violence.
