Hengaw: Thursday, March 13, 2025
Saeed Zadaraiat, a Tehran resident incarcerated in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj on drug-related charges, lost his life due to delays in receiving medical treatment and the late transfer to a hospital under the pretext of budget constraints.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Saeed Zaderaiat, a 50-year-old inmate suffering from advanced laryngeal cancer, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2025, due to delays in accessing medical services outside the prison.
Last month, this prisoner had been transferred to a hospital outside the prison. However, throughout his imprisonment, prison officials had repeatedly postponed his treatment for extended periods. In recent months, he had been transferred from Unit 4, Ward 22 of Ghezel Hesar Prison to Unit 1.
It is worth noting that Saeed Zaderaiat had been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to eleven years in prison, of which he had served seven years.
