Kurdish resident of Baneh, Rahman Ahmadi, arrested to serve prison sentence

Rahman Ahmadi, a Kurdish man from Baneh, was summoned to the city’s courthouse under the pretext of renewing his bail document, where he was subsequently arrested and transferred to the central prison.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Rahman Ahmadi, a 34-year-old resident of the village of Siwach in Baneh, was detained upon appearing in court. He was subsequently transferred to the city's central prison to serve his three-year prison sentence.

the Baneh Revolutionary Court informed Rahman Ahmadi that he had been sentenced to three years of imprisonment on charges of "collaborating with the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK)."

Rahman Ahmadi and his cousin, Adel Ahmadi, a resident of Siwach village, were arrested on Thursday, August 24, 2023, when government forces raided their homes using ten vehicles, including Special Unit cars, without presenting any legal warrant.

It is noteworthy that, at the time of their arrest, another man named Behzad Abidi was also detained. Behzad Abidi was released after 24 hours, while Rahman and Adel Ahmadi were released on bail after a month.
