Execution of seven prisoners carried out in prisons across Iran

At least seven prisoners, including one Kurd, an Arab, and a Lor, have been executed in recent days in the cities of Kermanshah (Kermashan), Khorramabad, Shiraz, Hamedan, and Nishapur. The executions were carried out on charges including premeditated murder, rape, and drug-related offenses.
According to information received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, at dawn on Sunday, May 18, 2025, the death sentence of Sirus Jafari, a 27-year-old Kurdish man from Kermanshah, was carried out at the city’s Dizelabad Prison. He had been arrested three years ago on charges of premeditated murder and subsequently sentenced to death.
On the same day, the execution of Asghar Baghbani, a 29-year-old man from Nishapur, was carried out at the city’s central prison. He had been convicted of murder in connection with a dispute over agricultural water rights that occurred four years ago.
On Saturday, May 17, 2025, Mohammadvali Ahangari, a 27-year-old Lor man from Aligudarz, was executed at Khorramabad Central Prison. He had been arrested three years prior on charges related to drug offenses and sentenced to death.
In continuation of this wave of executions, the Iran Human Rights Organization reported that on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, three prisoners — including Naser Hamidi, a 34-year-old Arab man from Dezful — were executed at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. Hamidi had been convicted of premeditated murder four years ago.
The identities of the other two individuals executed in Shiraz have been confirmed as Isa Ahmadi, a 30-year-old from Shiraz, convicted of rape, and Hadi Soleimani from Mianrud, convicted of premeditated murder. Both had been in custody for approximately three to four years.
Additionally, on Monday, May 5, 2025, Amirmohammad Tavakoli, a 32-year-old man from Mashhad, was executed at Hamedan Central Prison. He had been convicted of premeditated murder.
None of these executions have been publicly announced by state media or outlets affiliated with Iran’s judiciary.
