Ebrahim Mardani, a Kurdish man from Bukan, was arrested by agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Intelligence Department and transferred to an unknown location.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, Ebrahim Mardani, a 47-year-old man from Bukan, was arrested at his family home by intelligence forces.

A source close to the Mardani family told Hengaw that, the arrest was due to the presence of guests wearing “Jamaneh” and “khaki” clothings at his son’s wedding ceremony.

As of the time of this report, there is no accurate information available regarding the fate or whereabouts of this Kurdish man.

This incident follows a similar case on March 4, 2025, when Mahmoud Naderi was arrested in Sanandaj under the same pretext.

In early January 2024, at least 58 Kurdish mrn in the cities of Mahabad, Bukan, and Piranshahr—including family members of those killed during the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement—were summoned by judicial authorities after attending a wedding ceremony wearing Jamaneh and khaki clothing, accused of what was referred to as "symbolism."

Despite increased surveillance and legal threats, recent months have seen a wave of public defiance, with videos circulating online showing wedding participants in Sanandaj, Bukan, Mahabad, Piranshahr, and Oshnavieh (Shino) donning Jamaneh and (Khaki) earth-toned garments in solidarity with those previously targeted.
