Kurdish man Mohammad Lotfifar arrested in Mahabad, fate unknown

A 23-year-old Kurdish man from Mahabad, Mohammad Lotfifar, has been arrested by Iran’s Intelligence Department and transferred to an undisclosed location. One week later, his fate and whereabouts remain unknown.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, agents of the Intelligence Department arrested Lotfifar on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Informed sources report that following his arrest, intelligence agents raided his family’s home, searched the property, and confiscated his personal vehicle.
Despite persistent efforts by his family over the past week, security agencies have refused to provide any clear answers regarding his status or place of detention.
No details have been made available regarding the reasons for his arrest, any charges brought against him, or his current condition.
