Hengaw - Tuesday, July 22, 2025
Bahman Kazemi, a 35-year-old civilian from Kuhdasht, was shot and killed by Iranian security forces after they opened fire directly on his vehicle at a checkpoint in Kangavar, Kermanshah Province. He is the 16th civilian to be killed by government forces in Iran since the end of the Iran-Israel conflict.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on the evening of Monday, July 21, 2025, when Kazemi — also known as "Bahman Lor" — was driving his private car and was fatally shot without warning by police forces stationed at the checkpoint.
Sources close to the incident confirm that Kazemi was unarmed and offered no provocation when he was targeted with live ammunition.
Data recorded by Hengaw's Statistics and Documentation Center shows that since the ceasefire between Iran and Israel, at least 16 civilians — including five women and one child — have been killed by direct gunfire from Iranian state forces.
