Hengaw – Wednesday, August 27, 2025
Iranian intelligence forces violently arrested Pouya (Rawezh) Nasiri, a 23-year-old Kurdish man from Mahabad, and transferred him to an undisclosed location. He is the brother of Puria Nasiri, who was previously detained and recently sentenced to prison.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the arrest took place on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, when Intelligence Office agents raided Nasiri’s shop in Mahabad. The forces reportedly used violence before taking him away.
Sources told Hengaw that the operation was carried out without the presentation of an arrest warrant and involved physical assault.
Earlier this year, his brother, Puria Nasiri, a law student at Islamic Azad University of Mahabad, was arrested on Thursday, June 19, 2025, and on September 2 was sentenced by Branch One of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court to three months in prison on charges of “propaganda against the state.”
No information has been made available regarding the reasons for Pouya Nasiri’s arrest, his current whereabouts, or the charges against him.
