Five prisoners executed in Karaj, Gorgan, Isfahan, and Sabzevar Prisons

The death sentences of five prisoners—identified as Ahmadali Mehripour, Hamid Kakavand, Arman Aghcheli, Hesam (Keyvan) Dadkhah, and Saeed Joghatay—were carried out in recent days in the prisons of Ghezel Hesar, Gorgan, Isfahan, and Sabzevar. All had previously been convicted on drug-related charges. 

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Saturday, August 30, 2025, two prisoners were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj: Hamid Kakavand, a Kurdish prisoner from Kangavar, Kermanshah Province, and Ahmadali Mehripour. Both had been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. 

Earlier, at dawn on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Arman Aghcheli, a Turkmen prisoner, was executed in Gorgan Central Prison, Golestan Province, also on drug-related charges. On the same day, Hesam (Keyvan) Dadkhah, 40, from Qazvin, was executed in Isfahan’s Dastgerd Prison. Dadkhah had been arrested four years ago on drug charges, spent three years in Najafabad Prison, and was later transferred to Dastgerd Prison for the implementation of his sentence. 

Separately, at dawn on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Saeed Joghatay, a Turkish prisoner, was executed in Sabzevar Central Prison, Razavi Khorasan Province, after being convicted on drug-related charges. 

State media, including judiciary-affiliated outlets, have not reported on these executions.
