Iranian authorities execute six prisoners in five cities

Iranian authorities executed six prisoners on Sunday in the cities of Arak, Sanandaj (Sine), Karaj, Zahedan, and Shiraz. The men – Jasem Nouri, Akbar Abbaspour, Soleiman Koushki, Hamed Barahouei, Arman Reyhani, and Esmail Dalavar – had been sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder or drug-related offenses.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Akbar Abbaspour, a Turk from Maragheh who was living in Baneh, Sanandaj Province, and the father of one child, was executed at dawn in Sanandaj Central Prison. He had been arrested seven years earlier on charges of murdering two brothers.
On the same day, Soleiman Koushki, a Lor from Khorramabad, was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj on drug-related charges.
In Zahedan, 25-year-old Baloch prisoner Hamed Barahouei (Baji-Zehi) was executed in Zahedan Central Prison. He had been arrested 11 months ago on murder charges. Rights groups reported that he was transferred to solitary confinement on August 30 and granted a final family visit later that day.
Two other men, Arman Reyhani and Esmail Dalavar, were executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. Both had been convicted of premeditated murder.
In Arak, the death sentence of Jasem Nouri, convicted on drug-related charges, was also carried out.
Iranian state media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary, had not reported these executions.
