Kurdish blogger Sirwan Parvizi re-arrested by security forces in Ilam

Sirwan Parvizi, a Kurdish satirical blogger and social media activist from Ilam, has once again been arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He has previously faced arrest due to his online activities.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Parvizi was arrested on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Known for his critical and humorous content on social media, he remains in custody, with no information available about the reasons for his detention or any charges filed against him.

Parvizi was previously arrested on January 5, 2025, when IRGC Intelligence agents raided his family home in Ilam. He was later released from Ilam Central Prison on bail after undergoing interrogation and being formally charged on January 8, 2025.

That arrest was in connection with a satirical Instagram post criticizing Iran’s economic conditions under the rule of the Islamic Republic.
