Mahabad – Naser Ahmadzadeh begins serving 15-month prison term

Naser Ahmadzadeh, a Kurdish resident of Mahabad, has been arrested and transferred to the city’s central prison to serve a 15-month prison sentence.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, Ahmadzadeh, 34, and a father of one, was sent to Mahabad Central Prison to begin serving his sentence.
He was previously sentenced to 39 months in prison on the charge of “acting against national security through cooperation with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.” Following his request to accept the court’s ruling, the sentence was reduced to 15 months.
Ahmadzadeh was first arrested on Sunday, January 26, 2025, during a raid by intelligence agents on his home. He was temporarily released from Mahabad Prison on March 2, 2025, after posting bail.
He had also been arrested earlier, on the night of Saturday, August 13, 2022, in one of Mahabad’s streets by intelligence agents without the presentation of an arrest warrant. He was released on Sunday, September 4, 2022, after posting bail set at 500 million tomans.
