Chaypareh— Five Kurdish youth arrested and publicly paraded through city

Hengaw– Tuesday, August 19, 2025
Five Kurdish youths from Chaypareh, West Azerbaijan (Urmia) Province, were arrested by Iranian security forces and, in a degrading act, publicly paraded through the city.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the five young men were detained on the evening of Monday, August 18, 2025, by Iran’s Law Enforcement Command in Chaypareh. The following morning, they were paraded through the streets before being transferred to court.
A source familiar with the case told Hengaw that the detainees—whose identities have been verified—were subjected to severe beatings from the time of their arrest until the next morning, before being forced through the public humiliation.
The same source added that two of the youths were detained merely for a verbal altercation with an officer, while the other three were arrested simply for attempting to follow up on their friends’ situation outside the police unit.
Hengaw has learned that none of the five detainees had prior judicial records or pending cases. They were arrested without any legal warrant and subjected to public parading by the security forces.
