Saqqez— Media activist Nariman Randani arrested again alongside his brother

Media and civil society activist Nariman Randani from Saqqez has been arrested for the third time this year by Iran’s Intelligence Department. His brother, Milad Randani, was also detained for several hours and released after being beaten.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, 35-year-old Nariman Randani was arrested at his family home in Saqqez by intelligence agents.

Hengaw has learned that his brother, Milad, was also detained without a warrant and subjected to beatings while in custody before being released later the same day.

No details are available regarding the reasons for Nariman Randani’s arrest, the charges against him, or his whereabouts.

This is not the first time the activist has been targeted by security forces. On April 9, 2025, he was arrested in Saqqez and released on May 11 after posting bail, pending trial. Earlier, on January 22, 2025, he had also been arrested by security forces in Saqqez and released on February 25 after 33 days in detention upon posting a bail of 600 million tomans.
