Five prisoners executed in Gachsaran, Isfahan and Nishabur prisons

The death sentences of five prisoners, Hossein Mousavi, Abbas Yazdani, Fazel Sohrabi, Sharif Behzadi and Nourahmad Changizi, were carried out in the prisons of Gachsaran, Isfahan and Nishabur. All had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses and intentional murder.
According to information obtained by Hengaw, Hossein Mousavi, a 31-year-old Arab man from Abadan in Khuzestan Province and the father of two children, was executed at Gachsaran Central Prison in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province. The execution took place at dawn on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Mousavi had been arrested seven years earlier on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death.
On Wednesday morning, September 17, authorities at Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd) carried out the execution of Abbas Yazdani, a resident of Isfahan who had been arrested six years ago on drug charges and sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
That same day, Fazel Sohrabi, 47, was executed at Nishabur Central Prison in Razavi Khorasan Province. Sohrabi had been arrested four years earlier on a murder charge and later sentenced to death.
At dawn on Tuesday, September 16, two additional executions took place at Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd). Sharif Behzadi, 56, a Lor man from Borujerd in Lorestan Province, and Nourahmad Changizi from Kerman were both put to death. Behzadi had been sentenced to death three years ago, and Changizi five years ago, on drug-related charges.
The executions of these five prisoners have not been reported by state-run media, including outlets affiliated with Iran’s judiciary.
