Iran has executed eight prisoners who had previously been sentenced to death on charges of “premeditated murder” or “drug-related offenses.” The executions were carried out in the prisons of Bojnurd, Sari, Behbahan, Tabriz, Mahshahr, Ferdows, and Ahvaz.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of Karam Reza Karami, previously sentenced to death on drug-related charges, took place at dawn on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in Bojnurd Prison in North Khorasan Province.
Meanwhile, at dawn on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Mojtaba Falhati, a Gilak man from Sari, and Kazem Taheri, a Lor man from Behbahan in Khuzestan Province—both convicted of premeditated murder—were executed in the prisons of Sari and Behbahan.
On the same day, the death sentences of three prisoners—Alireza Soltani, 49, a Turkish man from Tabriz; Naser Ayoubi, 28, a Turkish man from Hashtrud; and Mehdi Ghorbani, an Arab man from Mahshahr in Khuzestan Province—were carried out in the prisons of Tabriz and Mahshahr.
According to sources, Soltani had been imprisoned for about 10 years on charges of killing his cousin following a family dispute; Ayoubi had been detained for approximately four years on murder charges linked to so-called “honour-related” motives; and Ghorbani had also been arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death.
In the same context, at dawn on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Ashkan Rasouli, from Ferdows in South Khorasan Province and previously sentenced to death for murder, was executed in Ferdows Prison.
Continuing the recent wave of executions, Mansour Ghaane, an Arab prisoner from Ahvaz, approximately 30 years old, was executed at dawn on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz. He had spent about five years in prison on charges of premeditated murder.
None of these executions have been announced by Iranian state media, particularly outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
