Political prisoner Farbod Hassanvand in critical condition in Masjed Soleyman Prison

Hengaw – Saturday, September 27, 2025
Farbod Hassanvand, a Lor political prisoner, is being held in Masjed Soleyman Prison, Khuzestan Province, in critical health condition. He was arrested during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel, and had previously been detained during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) uprising.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, despite his urgent need for medical care, prison authorities have deliberately denied him proper treatment.
A source close to his family reported that Hassanvand, who uses a prosthetic leg, has developed a severe infection at the site of his prosthesis since being transferred to prison. Despite his deteriorating condition and the need for specialized care outside prison, authorities have refused to transfer him to hospital.
Hassanvand was arrested on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, during the war between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel, and has since been held in Masjed Soleyman Prison.
He had previously been arrested during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement and faced charges including “insulting sacred values” and “insulting the Supreme Leader.”
