Authorities execute five prisoners across Iranian prisons

Iranian authorities have executed five prisoners across prisons in Ghezel Hesar, Ramhormoz, Zahedan and Rasht. The men, Masoud Okhtizadeh, Akbar Emami, Khalil Rashidi, Elias Shirouzehi and Mohsen Yarmohammadi, had been convicted on charges related to drug offenses or premeditated murder.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Okhtizadeh from Kuhdasht and Emami from Nourabad in Lorestan Province were executed at dawn on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. Both had been arrested on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
In a separate case, Rashidi, a father of one from Ramshir in Khuzestan Province, was executed at dawn on Monday, September 15, 2025, in Ramhormoz Central Prison after spending five years on death row for premeditated murder.
On Sunday, September 14, 2025, authorities executed Shirouzehi, about 27, from Zahedan, in Zahedan Central Prison. He had been arrested five years earlier on a charge of premeditated murder.
Earlier, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Yarmohammadi, 44, from Tehran, was executed in Rasht Central Prison (Lakan) after being convicted of premeditated murder.
State media, including judiciary-affiliated outlets, had not reported any of these executions.
