Six Baha’i women, Neda Mohebi, Farideh Ayoubi, Zarrindokht Ahadzadeh, Zhaleh Rezaei, Atefeh Zahedi, and Noora Ayoubi, have been arrested and transferred to Hamedan Central Prison to begin serving their prison sentences.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the six women, all residents of Hamedan, were taken into custody after being summoned to the Enforcement Office of the city’s court.

Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Hamedan had earlier sentenced Mohebi to seven years and eight months in prison, and each of Ayoubi, Ahadzadeh, Rezaei, Zahedi, and Ayoubi to six years and three months, amounting to a total of 38 years and 11 months in prison.

The court suspended three years of Mohebi’s sentence and two years of the sentences of Ahadzadeh, Rezaei, and Ayoubi.

The women were convicted on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran” and “organising illegal Baha’i classes and groups.”

They had previously been arrested in Hamedan on November 7, 2023, and were released on bail in December 2023 pending the outcome of their judicial proceedings.
