Hengaw – Friday, October 10, 2025
Hossein Gardeshi, a former political prisoner, and his brother, Mohsen Gardeshi, a civil rights activist from Bukan, were re-arrested by agents of Iran’s Intelligence Department and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the two brothers were arrested on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in separate but coordinated operations.
Hossein Gardeshi was detained at his workplace before security forces raided and searched his home. Simultaneously, agents stormed the home of his brother, Mohsen Gardeshi, where they intimidated family members and arrested him as well.
Both brothers had previously been detained on January 9, 2021, during a wave of arrests targeting Kurdish activists carried out by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
While Mohsen was released after several days, Hossein Gardeshi remained in custody for two months before being temporarily released on bail from Urmia Central Prison on March 8, 2021.
He was later convicted on charges of “membership in opposition groups” and sentenced to imprisonment and a fine, which he subsequently served.
