Iranian intelligence forces arrest Kurdish man Afshin Ebrahimi in Mahabad

Iranian intelligence forces have arrested Afshin Ebrahimi, a 27-year-old Kurdish man from Mahabad, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, security agents detained Ebrahimi at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2025, after raiding his residence and confiscating his mobile phone. He was briefly released but re-arrested later that day after being summoned to the Intelligence Department to retrieve the confiscated device.

Sources reported that agents gained access to his personal social media accounts following the seizure of his phone.

No information has been made available regarding the reasons for Ebrahimi’s arrest, the charges against him, or his current whereabouts.
