University lecturer Hassan Faraji arrested in Marivan

Hassan Faraji, a lecturer and member of the academic staff at Marivan Azad University, has been arrested by agents of the Intelligence Department in Marivan. Three days after his detention, his fate and whereabouts remain unknown.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Faraji, who holds a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology, was arrested by intelligence agents at his workplace on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Sources informed Hengaw that since the arrest, Faraji has been denied contact with his family, and repeated inquiries by his relatives to learn about his situation have yielded no results.
No verified information has yet been obtained regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges brought against him, or his current place of detention.
