Hengaw – Saturday, October 18, 2025
Jahangir Rostami, a 63-year-old Kurdish retired teacher and member of the Harsin Teachers’ Trade Association in Kermanshah Province (Kermashan), has been arrested by Iranian security forces and transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Friday, October 17, 2025, security forces raided Rostami’s home in Harsin, using excessive force during his arrest before transferring him to Evin Prison.
A source close to the family told Hengaw that after visiting the Kermanshah Prosecutor’s Office today, the family was informed that Rostami had been taken to Evin Prison following his arrest.
Jahangir Rostami is the father of Ehsan Rostami, a cultural activist from Harsin who was arrested by security forces in Tehran on August 20, 2025.
Since his detention, Ehsan Rostami has been held under the order of Naser Jalayer Sartaqi, the investigator of Branch 5 of the Evin Prosecutor’s Office, and has been denied family visits. He has been on hunger strike since October 2, 2025, in protest of the unclear status of his case and the pressure exerted by interrogators.
No official information has been provided regarding the reasons for Jahangir Rostami’s arrest, or the charges against him.
