Political prisoner Farzad Khosh Boresh dies in Sari Intelligence Detention Center

Farzad Khosh Boresh, a political prisoner from Neka in Mazandaran Province, died under highly concerning circumstances only one week after his arrest in the Intelligence Detention Center in Sari. Visible bruising and signs of beating were observed on his body.

Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Khosh Boresh, 31 and from Neka, died in custody on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, inside the Sari Intelligence Detention Center. His death occurred only days after he was detained for the second time this year.

According to a source close to the family, officials at the Intelligence Office in Sari claimed that Khosh Boresh’s health deteriorated while he was in detention and that he died after being transferred to a hospital.

Witnesses, however, reported clear signs of bruising and blunt-force trauma on Khosh Boresh’s body.

Adding to the concerns surrounding his death, intelligence agents transferred the body to the Forensic Medicine Organization and have so far refused to provide any results.

Hengaw has also learned that intelligence officers filmed and photographed individuals present at the cemetery and warned them against reporting or sharing information about the case.

According to informed sources, Khosh Boresh had been arrested again in Sari on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. He had previously been detained in August for what authorities described as “posting and sharing political criticism on social media” and was later released on bail.
