Iran’s judiciary has sentenced Arman Askui, a political prisoner held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad and one of those detained during the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) uprising, to 23 months in prison.

Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Askui, 31, a resident of Mashhad, has been sentenced by the Mashhad Revolutionary Court to 15 months and one day in prison on the charge of “insulting Khamenei” and to 7 months and 23 days on the charge of “propaganda against the state.” The ruling was formally issued to him last week.

Askui was arrested at his home in Mashhad on September 20, 2025, and was transferred to Vakilabad Prison on October 7. He was formally charged at the Mashhad Prosecutor’s Office in late October.

He was also arrested on July 6, 2025, after Basij forces detained him for walking his dog in a public park. During that arrest, Basij agents used violence and beatings before transferring him to Police Station 28 on Haft-Tir Boulevard, where he was later released.

Askui had previously been detained by Iranian security forces during the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising and was released after a period of custody.
