Whereabouts of Salar Khalifehzadeh unknown following arrest in Mahabad

Salar Khalifehzadeh, a Kurdish man from Mahabad, has been detained by Iranian security forces. After twelve days, there is still no information regarding his fate or whereabouts.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, his family has repeatedly inquired about his situation, but the Intelligence Department has refused to provide any information on the location of 33-year-old Salar Khalifehzadeh.

Hengaw has learned that Khalifehzadeh was arrested at around 11 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, by agents of the Mahabad Intelligence Department and transferred to an undisclosed location.

A source close to the family told Hengaw that the arrest took place at his workplace — a small food stand near Fatemieh School in Mahabad — where he was detained by several intelligence agents without a warrant.

No details have been made available regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges against him.
