Hengaw – Sunday, November 9, 2025
Iranian security forces have re-arrested Danial Darabkhani, a Kurdish former political prisoner from Kermanshah (Kermashan), in Lahijan, Gilan Province. He has been held in Lahijan Prison for the past two weeks with no clarification of his legal status. Darabkhani was previously detained during the nationwide protests of December 2017.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Darabkhani remains in Lahijan Prison two weeks after his arrest, still in a state of legal uncertainty.
Following his latest detention, Darabkhani was charged with “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran” and transferred to prison under a temporary detention order.
Darabkhani was first arrested on March 9, 2018. After nine months in the custody of the Intelligence Department and Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah, he was temporarily released on bail of 150 million tomans. He was later sentenced to one year in prison for participating in the December 2017 protests in Kermanshah, a sentence he served in full before his release.
