At least six prisoners, including a woman, executed in Mashhad

At least six prisoners, including three Baloch prisoners and one woman, were executed in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad. They have been identified as Asieh Ghavi Cheshm, Mehrdad Kolbeali, Hassan Shahraki, Jalal Afaq, Masoud Yaghi Zayi (Brahui), and Aref Sediqpour, all of whom had been convicted on drug-related charges.

According to reports received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Saturday, March 1, 2025, death sentences of Asieh Ghavi Cheshm, 45, a mother of two, and Jalal Afaq, 32, both from Khalqabad village near Mashhad; Masoud Yaghi Zayi (Brahui), 33, and Hassan Shahraki, 29, from Zahedan; Mehrdad Kolbeali, 26, from Zabol; and Aref Sediqpour from Kerman were carried out in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad.

Jalal Afaq and Asieh Ghavi Cheshm were arrested two years ago in a joint case on drug-related charges and were later sentenced to death by the judiciary.

Masoud Yaghi Zayi and Mehrdad Kolbeali had been imprisoned for three years, while Hassan Shahraki had been arrested for four years before being sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

The prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement the day before their execution. Prison authorities denied Masoud Yaghi Zayi his final visit with his family.

As of the time of this report, state-affiliated media, particularly those linked to the judiciary, have not announced these executions.
